Brastech is the first service renderer in Brazil certified by API as specialized in the riser repair


During the OTC Brazil, Brastech has received a pioneer certification in the country. The company is the first service renderer in Brazil specialized in inspection services and the repair of drilling risers, buoyance modules and telescopic joints certified by API Spec Q1, ISO/TS 29001 and NBR ISO 9001. The delivery shall take place at API’S stand on the first day of the OTC Brazil Fair, on Tuesday (29).
 
Brastech’s Chief Executive Officer, Roberto Chedid, and the Director of Operations, Roberto Chedid Filho, shall receive the API Spec Q1, ISO/TS 29001 and NBR ISO 9001 certificates from Chip Evans, API’S Global Service Manager of the Global Industry Service Department. Evans is responsible to promote the API Standards, API certification programs, API training and API Events, as well as to manage the activities of API’S agencies in Houston, Peking, Singapore, Dubai and Rio de Janeiro.
 
The API standards are projected to help industry professionals to optimize the efficiency and cost-benefit ratio of their operations, according to legal and regulation requirements, as well as to provide for health and environment protection. “With API we achieved the international excellence top regarding the oil and gas sector. It has been a great achievement and represents a large differential for the market. Herewith we are impelled to aggregate more quality to our processes and to offer even more satisfaction to our clients”, said Roberto Filho.
 
According to Brastech’s Quality Manager, the changing process to fit API’S standards and practice requirements started in September of 2012, Along this year, Brastech has optimized its processes, from the specification study up to the field failure analysis, passing through the service performance control and finished service inspection. “The quality practice allows a rationalization of the productive processes and consequent productivity increase”, explains Brastech’s Quality Manager, Leila Morais.
 
With the pre-salt exploration start, due to the higher depth necessary for the oil extract, the demand for riser, floatation device and telescopic joint repair services shall increase significantly. “The next years are a promise. Via the API we shall ensure that we are ready to attend the sector with the practices required by the international market”, emphasizes the Operation Director.
